Sounds simple enough, right? For some – maybe, for others – not so much.
I guess one would need to define what the simple rich life looks like for them. I am sure that it is different for everyone.
In this blog – I am going to discuss what the simple rich living looks like to me, what it means to mean, and what I think that it is. I will also go into my journey in finding and creating the simple rich life for myself and my family.
I have had many dreams, goals, plans, ideas – you name it – I have had it. All in pursuit of the All American Dream!
Have I found it yet. Maybe – but I am still in the ‘let’s see if this is going to work or not’.
I am in a search of making my life better. Being completely debt free. Having money in the bank for rainy days. Being able to send my daughter to dance classes or gymnastics, or whatever she is in at the time. Having the money to help people in need that need a hand up, not a hand out.
Some of my dreams
My husband and I have had the privilege to know what it is like to actually help someone in need. And I have to tell you, it is a great feeling knowing that you are able to help someone out that would otherwise be in a very hard spot if it weren’t for you coming along to help out.
We have dreams of helping 3-4 people a year. We want to buy a home that has a guest house on the property and when we hear of someone needing some help or someone that needs a little lift that has fallen on hard times, we want to be able to offer them a place to live in order for that person to get back up on their feet.
We feel that we can do this by offering a place for them to live for a few months until they can get a job, save some money, and be able to go out on their own. By offering them a place to live, they do not have to worry about living on the streets or having a roof over their heads. They can concentrate on what they need to concentrate on.
Another dream of mine is to be able to travel. I want to be able to experience many different cultures from all over the world. I want to touch lives in such a way that people will remember me.
I want to walk in some of the same places that people that have touched my life have walked. (more on that later)
I love food! I want to taste and smell the different foods that span across our globe.
Simply put – I want to try new things, see new places, taste new foods, hear new dialects, smell different countries.
A dream that my husband has is to be able to travel around preaching to churches and groups from all over. A lot of times, smaller churches miss out on some really great teaching because they are, well, because they are small and they don’t have the funds or the means to bring in the big names like Joel Osteen, Beth Moore, Benny Hinn, etc. Sadly, these smaller groups don’t always get the benefit of the great teachers and preachers. My husband wants to be able to go where ever God leads him, no matter if they can afford to pay him or not. No matter what ‘offering’ they are able to give to him, he wants to be able to do it for free.
My husband graduated from Rheema Bible College and he wants to be able to take all that God has given him and taught him and share it with the world. He learned under some really great men. My wisdom and relationship has increased with the Lord dramatically because of him.
No, life is not all about money but it helps to have it. And when you don’t have it, life can become very difficult.
I want to also use this blog to teach you some of the methods that I have used and learned over the years on how to save money, become debt free (other than mortgage and one loan) and how to live happily on a budget.
One of the things that I have learned about us as a society today is that we have a what I call a Microwave Mentality. We want everything right now and don’t want to wait or work for anything. We are an instant gratification society.
Now of course, this has been going on for years though. As kids grow up, they see where their parents are when the child moves out and thinks that they should be in the same place. But what the child doesn’t see or fails to realize is the hard work and TIME that has gone into their parents getting to where they currently are.
Most of us are not born with a silver spoon in our mouths and so therefore we have to actually work for what we want. You do have people that like to take the easy way out and cheat, scam, or steal from others, but we all know that that is wrong, wrong, wrong!
Our parents worked hard to get where they are at. I know I have worked hard to get where I am. And I am still a LONG way to where I want to be. But kids just can’t go out and expect everything to be the way they see it is with their parents. Just doesn’t work that way. You gotta put in your time too, just like your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on did before you! This topic will be discussed later at length.
Some of the topics you will find on this blog that I will get into will be:
- Making money from home – can it really be done?
- MLM money – scam or real?
- How to build credit if you have bad or no credit at all
- Saving money
- Becoming debt free
- Staying Debt free
- Coupons – is it all it’s cracked up to be
- Vacations – saving for them
- Saving for a rainy day
- College Fund
And so many more.
This blog for me is just a way to archive my life experiences and to try and help anyone that I can to live a simple rich life as much as any of us possibly can.
